English: Lukas Zahradka re-signed as QB of the Seamen
Hardly anyone doubted it and now the inevitable has officially happened: Luke Zahradka remains the quarterback of the Milano Seamen and goes along the way of the Navy Blue to the European League of Football.
The 31-year-old, who has been the Italian first division passing yards leader twice and passing touchdowns leader four times, also holds an Italian passport and plays for the Italian national team. He was champion with the Squadra Azzurra at the 2021 European Championship and subsequently named tournament MVP.
Nevertheless, the signal caller counts as an A player in the European League of Football, assuming the licensing rules do not change in the coming season. The native New Yorker started playing football in the USA and was educated there at H. Frank Carey High School and Bentley University.

Zahradka already rooted in Milan
Zahradka has been living in Milan since 2017 and has both a girlfriend and a full-time job there. He has the advantage of being very familiar with the organization and not having to settle into a new environment. He will have been playing with some teammates at the Seamen for years and will have built a good connection by the time the Milan team enters its first ELF season. However, the pocket passer will need a stable offensive line to produce similar statistics in the ELF as he did in the Italian league.

Der 31-jährige, der schon zweimal Passing Yards und viermal Passing Touchdowns Leader der italienischen ersten Liga war, hat auch den italienischen Pass und spielt für die italienische Nationalmannschaft. Bei der Europameisterschaft 2021 wurde er mit der Squadra Azzurra Champion sowie anschließend als Turnier MVP ausgezeichnet.
Trotzdem zählt der Signal Caller in der European League of Football als A-Spieler, insofern sich die Lizenzierungsregeln in der kommenden Saison nicht ändern. So begann der gebürtige New Yorker in den USA mit dem Football und durchlief dort auch seine Ausbildung an der H. Frank Carey High School und der Bentley University.
Zahradka in Mailand verwurzelt
Zahradka ist seit 2017 in Mailand wohnhaft und hat dort sowohl eine Freundin (inzwischen wohl verheiratet) als auch einen festen Job. Er hat den Vorteil, dass er die Organisation bestens kennt und sich nicht erst in einem neuen Umfeld einfinden muss. Mit einigen Teamkollegen bei den Seamen wird er bereits seit Jahren zusammengespielt und eine gute Connection aufgebaut haben, wenn die Mailänder in ihre erste ELF-Saison gehen. Allerdings braucht der Pocket Passer eine stabile Offensive Line, um in der ELF ähnliche Statistiken wie in der italienischen Liga produzieren zu können.
