English: Sea Devils edge rusher Kasim Edebali is ELF MVP of the Week
Kasim Edebali (Hamburg Sea Devils) was awarded MVP of the Week. The edge rusher prevailed over Vienna Vikings‘ defensive Tackle Florian Sudi. Edebali is the third Sea Devils athlete as well as the second German to be selected this season. He completely switched to „Vollmaschinen“-mode in the semifinals and dominated against the Raiders Tirol. The 33-year-old recorded eight tackles, including three sacks and 1.5 additional tackles for loss, and a QB hit. Thus, Edebali was decisive for the 19:7 victory over the Tyrolean franchise.
Jonathan Kasim Edebali is one of the most famous people in Germany when it comes to American football. Thus, he is one of the few German athletes who actually made it to the National Football League (NFL). There, Cam Jordan’s brother-in-law was under contract with a total of eight teams. He was most successful with the New Orleans Saints, for whom he was on the active roster between 2014 and 2016. With eight sacks, Edebali is the German record holder for sacks. However, Edebali is widely popular in the football community not only because of his career as an athlete, but also because he is part of Football Bromance around Patrick Esume and Björn Werner.
