English: Raiders add local running back Tobias Bonatti
The European League of Football currently offers probably the best stage for European athletes to present themselves to NFL scouts. High European level of play, good game tape, good media coverage. Already after the last season some ELF players, who of course were trained by other clubs before, made it to the NFL International Combine. Some other athletes who participated in the Combine have since moved on to teams in the ELF. One who was already being watched by NFL scouts before the ELF is running back Tobias Bonatti. Possibly he can recommend himself for an invitation to the next Combine if he attracts attention for the Raiders Tirol in the ELF.
Tobias Fabian Christoph Bonatti was born in 1998 and is 5′ 11“ (1,80 m) and 205 lbs (93 kg). While still a junior, he was used in the AFL team of the Swarco Raiders and did so extremely successfully from the beginning. In Austrian Bowl XXXII (2016) he contributed with a touchdown to his first AFL championship. The following summer, he was part of the Austrian junior national team that became European champions in Paris. Bonatti was named MVP of the tournament in the process.
Bonatti is a modern running back with good pass catching abilities and can therefore be used well in the (short) passing game. This can be backed up by the statistics. For example, in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, he not only totaled 1,178 rushing yards and fourteen touchdowns, but also caught 44 passes for 534 yards and nine touchdowns.
The 2018 European Championship runner-up was also a part of the Raiders last year, but was only able to appear in two games during the regular season. His absence was definitely noticeable as well as the other injury absences, but even after his return to the playoffs Bonatti still did not take the big role as before. Nevertheless, he celebrated winning the Austrian Bowl again with the Raiders, which was Bonatti’s fourth state title. He also has won a number of international bowl games.

Bereits nach der letzten Saison schafften es einige ELF-Spieler, die zuvor selbstverständlich von Vereinen ausgebildet wurden, zum NFL International Combine. Einige weitere Athleten, die am Combine teilgenommen haben, sind inzwischen zu Teams der ELF gewechselt. Einer, der bereits vor der ELF von NFL Scouts beobachtet wurde, ist Running Back Tobias Bonatti. Dieser wurde heute von den Raiders Tirol für den ELF-Kader vorgestellt. Eventuell kann er sich für eine Einladung zum nächsten Combine empfehlen, wenn er in der in diesem Jahr ein weiteres Mal auf sich aufmerksam macht.
Tobias Fabian Christoph Bonatti wurde 1998 geboren und ist 1,80 Meter groß und 93 Kilo schwer. Bonatti galt früh als großes Talent, weshalb er unter anderem zum Next Generation Bowl 2015 eingeladen wurde. Bonatti war damals Teil des österreichischen U17 All-Star Teams, das von Chris Calaycay trainiert wurde und gegen ein ungarisches All-Star Team gewann.
Noch im Juniorenalter wurde er bereits im AFL-Team der Swarco Raiders eingesetzt und tat dies von Beginn an überaus erfolgreich. Im Austrian Bowl XXXII trug er mit einem Touchdown zur Titelverteidigung bei und feierte so seinen ersten persönlichen Staatsmeistertitel. Im darauffolgenden Sommer war er Teil der österreichischen Junioren-Nationalmannschaft, die in Paris Europameister wurde. Bonatti wurde dabei zum MVP des Turniers ausgezeichnet.
Bonatti hat, wie es sich für einen modernen Runningback gehört, sichere Hände und kann somit auch gut im Kurzpassspiel eingesetzt werden. Dies lässt sich anhand der Statistiken untermauern. So erzielte er in den Saisons 2018 und 2019 nicht nur insgesamt 1.178 Rushing Yards und vierzehn Touchdowns, sondern fing auch 44 Pässe für 534 Yards und neun Touchdowns.
Der Vize-Europameister von 2018 war auch im letzten Jahr Teil der Raiders, konnte aber in der Regular Season nur in zwei Spielen auflaufen. Seine Abwesenheit machte sich so wie die weiterer Verletzungsausfälle durchaus bemerkbar, doch auch nach seiner Rückkehr zu den Play-offs nahm Bonatti noch nicht die große Rolle wie vorher ein. Dennoch feierte er mit den Raiders den erneuten Gewinn des Austrian Bowls, womit Bonatti bereits seinen vierten Staatsmeistertitel gewann. Zudem gewann er auch eine Reihe von internationalen Bowl-Games.
