Today we can present you an interview with Javier Carrasco Sanz, Jr (born on February 3, 1995 in Madrid) just a few days and hours before the season finally starts. The safety joined the Barcelona Dragons in 2021 after winning the Polish championship, and this year he is suiting up for the Leipzig Kings.

How are you? Did you arrive well in Leipzig?

I’m doing great, man! It’s been great so far, we’ve been through the team training camp and we’ve created a great bond between all of us.

What do you do in your spare time in Leipzig?

Most of the time I’m studying and preparing for practice and the next game, stretching and talking to loved ones, but I definitely need to start walking around town more.

What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to the Kings that will stand out both on and off the field?

I would say I am a silent leader and a tireless motor. I know I’m not much of a talker, but I do my best to lead by example in everything I do. And also to have the ability to always keep ballin‘, no matter what, and take every rep 100%.

You can play both running back and strong safety. What do you like about the two positions and which one will you mainly play at start of the season with the Kings?

I love both, and I love the exact same thing about both, the ability to make an impact in the game. Breaking tackles, gaining yards that some think are almost impossible. Or making a tackle, making an interception, or making a hit at the right moment to set the tone. But I’m going to be mostly a defensive player this season…. aren’t I?

The Leipzig Kings were founded a year ago and are now entering their second season. Of course, not everything is going perfectly yet. You are not playing your first two home games in Leipzig. Is that an issue within the team?

Not at all. Obviously, we’d love to play at least the season opener here in front of our fans, but that’s not an issue at all. Wherever we play, we’re going to play hard every down of the game.

What’s your take on the Northern Conference?

The Northern Conference is by far the best conference in my opinion. All the teams are highly competitive. But this conference belongs to the Kings.

What goals did you set for this ELF season?

Being the guy rivaling offense and defense gotta take care of. I’m always playing with that chip on my shoulder so nothing new here.

What are the keys to win against the Panthers on sunday?

Control their QB, hit the receivers hard and make some turnovers.
